We constantly ask ourselves all of these questions when designing and developing websites and we strive to make websites user-friendly and beautiful that targets the appropriate audience.
Sometimes, the client usually thinks they know what's best and I would agree that they do know their company better than we do. We always take their advice, listen to what they say about their target audience, competitors, and the products and ideas they want to sell. Sometimes, they go overboard and not know how to organize the structure and end up putting redundant content (e.g. a 30 second intro flash) which is not practical at all.
